What the AI does with your photo
Drop a phone photo of the garment, a sketch, or a render from another of our tools. In about twenty seconds the page returns two things.
- A flat sketch: the garment redrawn as black line art on white, front view, seams, pockets, closures and collar where the photo shows them.
- A garment read: the garment type, the silhouette, the visible construction, the closures, a hedged guess at the fabric, and a count of the pattern pieces the garment needs.
- A pattern quote: the tier that piece count falls in, and its fee, marked as an estimate.
When the count sits close to a tier boundary and the read is unsure, it asks you one question about the garment, such as whether it is lined or how many panels the body has, and counts again with your answer. Add a back photo if you have one: the pieces read better from both sides.
This is the part people mean when they search for an AI tech pack. It is the first page of one: the flat and a written read of the construction. It is not the full specification a factory costs from, and it is not a pattern.
What a person does: the pattern
A pattern is cutting geometry: closed pieces, notches that match, grainlines, ease. None of that can be measured off a picture, so on this page a professional pattern maker cuts it. You order from the quote in one click, the maker claims the order and drafts the pattern in production pattern software, and the files land on your Projects page.
The tier is classified by the system from the garment, never chosen at checkout, and the order confirms it before you pay. The fee is per garment:

The fee buys the production pattern files in AAMA/ASTM DXF-2, in your base size, with one revision. The files import into the cutting systems factories already run.
The factory tech pack, written by the pattern maker
A factory quoting bulk production wants more than the pattern: a bill of materials, a size chart with points of measure, construction notes and the colors. That document is the factory tech pack, an add-on at $10 ordered with the pattern. The maker who cuts the pattern writes it, so the specification and the cutting files agree with each other.
Grading the pattern across your size range is an add-on at $15; the marker layout and seam allowances in the files are add-ons too. A first order is usually a fit sample in one size, where none of them is needed yet.
Made for clothing
The pattern order is built for apparel: tops, shirts, dresses, skirts, trousers, jackets and coats. Shoes, bags, hats, gloves, socks, belts, ties and scarves each call for their own craft and tooling, from lasts to knitting programs; for those, keep the flat sketch and the read, and take them to a specialist in that craft.
