Techpacker alternative: what is missing once the tech pack is filled in

Techpacker and tools like it organise tech pack information very well. What they do not produce is the pattern: the cutting file the factory imports. That step is still on you afterwards, and it is the one that stalls production.

One remark keeps coming back from brands that adopted a tech pack tool: the pack is clean, complete, shared with the factory, and production still has not started. The reason is almost always the same.

What a tech pack tool does very well

Structuring information: measurement tables, bill of materials, colourways, trims.
Versioning: knowing which pack was sent, and when.
Sharing with the factory and keeping its comments in one place.

Those are real problems and solving them has value. Nothing below disputes that.

What is missing afterwards

A tech pack describes a garment. A pattern cuts it. The factory needs both, and the second does not follow from the first: somebody has to draw the pieces, place the notches, set the grainlines and decide the ease. A tech pack tool does not do that and never claimed to; it leaves you at exactly the point where you have to find a pattern maker, get a quote, wait, and start again if the file comes back.

That step is what costs weeks. It does not cost weeks because the work is slow. It costs weeks because the introduction, the quote and the scheduling are redone for every piece.

How we take the problem

The pattern fee is published before you order: $29 for a simple garment, $59 for a standard one, $129 for a complex one, with complexity classified by the platform from the piece count. You do not request a quote, you read a fee. A professional pattern maker takes the commission and cuts the pattern.

The factory spec sheet stays available as a $10 add-on, with grading at $15, a marker layout at $10 and seam allowances at $5. If the tool you already use produces a pack you are happy with, keep it: that is not what you came here for.

What we do not do: we do not take the place of your pattern maker or your bureau d'études, and we do not sell an AI that cuts patterns. On this platform the AI does the design and visualisation work and a human pattern maker cuts the pattern. That split is deliberate.

How to compare honestly

You already have a pattern maker and a working flow: a tech pack tool is probably all you need.
You get stuck between the pack and the factory on every piece: the pattern step is the one to solve, not the pack tool.
